With the development of electronic technology, electronic technology has infiltrated all areas, the car is representative of a typical application. Now, in the world to promote environmental protection and energy conservation, low-carbon general trend of green living, hybrid cars and pure electric vehicles are used more and more. So the electronic control system of vehicle is in line with the requirements of automotive development. Some vehicles has adopted this type of system. The size of the power is controlled by the electronic control unit. The power is provided by the motor. So, the system is not only energy saving but also easy maintenance.First, this paper introduces the characteristics of electric power steering system and its working principle and introduces all parts of the electric power steering system respectively. Then the features and control strategies of the power steering system were introduced. The fuzzy control algorithm was designed to control the size of the motor power current. The curve of the assistant power was designed and the method of its determination was introduced. Then the simulation model of the electric power steering system was built in the Matlab/Simulink. The PID and adaptive fuzzy PID controller of the power current were designed. The simulation results are analyzed to illustrate the power of the control strategy and the current size of the control method meet the system very well. Finally, the hardware of electronic control unit are introduced, including the sensor signal acquisition circuit and the permanent magnet brush DC motor drive circuit. Then the power control software and the software work flow chart are introduced.The contents of this paper shows the electric power steering control system development and the key technologies of the development. It is an important theoretical basis and a certain practical of reference for application.
