Proton exchange membrane is the heart of the fuel cell, it is not only a barrier of fuel (hydrogen) and oxidizer(oxygen), but also play on one side of the proton transfer- from the membrane to the other side of the dual role. Membrane performance is a direct impact on the performance of the fuel cell. Currently, Nafion membrane is widely used, but it have high cost and low methanol permeability, especially the conduct of the membrane is lowerat at eighty degree. Among the proton exchange membrane materials, aromatic sulfonated polymer is remarkable, but when they have too much water, they can swelling, so they will affect the membrane mechanical properties. In order to develop a new proton exchange membrane, we use SPAEKS as a based membrane, we prepared membrane in situ-polymerzation. From the FTIR and SEM, we can prove that Ppy was introducted in the SPAEKS chain. From the test of the membrane, we found that though the proton conductive and methanol permeability is low but the thermal, water uptake and dimensional stability of the blend membrane is improved with the Ppy introducted. We prepared SPAEKS/PVDF blend membrane by blend. From the FTIR and XRD we can prove that we prepared the blend membrane successfully. From the test of the membrane, we found that with the PVDF introducted, the thermal, water uptake of the blend membrane is improved but with the percent of the PVDF higher than 15%, the water uptake is lower. With the PVDF introduct, the proton conductive is improved, especially when PVDF is 15%, the proton conductive of is 0.0989S/cm.We have synthesised a new monomer, then characteristic it. A series of different sulphonated copolymer were synthesezed by driect polymerization.
