With the development of smart grid, the field of intelligent use of electricity is also changing and developing, network applications become more complex and diverse, the construction of every layer network develops towards broadband and high-speed network. With the field of intelligent use of electricity business developing, the requirements for terminal equipment of every layer are also rising, such as service convergence gateways and terminal control equipment of every layer.According to the research of the field of intelligent use of electricity, the paper comprehensively analyses relevant access network communication technology, short-range network technology, home gateway and intelligent home, based on which, the paper analyses technical requirements of communication networks by the electricity business and intelligent use of electricity service system in detail, combined with the development of intelligent use of electricity service system, this paper designs two network programs that are wired network and wireless one. Based on the network architecture, it designs the home gateway, which adjusts to the applications of intelligent use of electricity service. The gateway uses dual-core chips to meet the downlink communication with both wired and wireless, which satisfies the demands of data transmission of electricity business. On the basis of hardware, it designs the software architecture of the gateway, and for two means of downlink communication, it respectively designs the routing programs, including the routing algorithm, network program module of gateway and terminal equipment, and problems of radio frequency interference. And then, it simply designs a layer communication protocol for applications of intelligent use of electricity service, and describes work processes of terminal equipment.
