With the rapid development of economy, demand for electricity has been expanding continually; the information collection of electricity at the power demand side as well as load control and management becomes more and more important. The collection terminal of special transformer is an important information collection and management equipment under the AMI system, with lots of functions, such as data collection, data processing, load control and management, event recording and data transmission.This paper provides a solution using embedded hardware platform with high performance32-bit RISC SOC and embedded software platform with real-time operating system Linux. According to industrial computer system standard, the terminal hardware applies design strategy of platform and modularization. This paper focuses on the motherboard unit, communication module, independent measurement unit and meter reading circuit which has antistatic function and ability of preventing380V AC voltages by mistake as well as lightning protection feature. The design uses embedded real-time operating system Linux, accordingly, this paper studies the embedded Linux drive design based on AT91SAM9260platform, such as UART, SPI bus, NAND Flash, RTC clock, the watchdog and other device. The application software uses top-down and modularization layering design including communication module, exception handling module, and the load control module, etc, which has good scalability and portability.From the current application situation, the terminal of this design can work stably and reliably, which achieves the effect and the function requirement as expected.
