Under the combined effect of the external load and temperature change, there are always a lot of cracks generated in the internal and on the surface of the large volume of concrete buildings. These cracks on the structure always caused varying degrees of harm, which may change the structural's'designing stress state. The Uneven distribution of internal stress Tend to make the development of micro-cracks, the intersection and the formation of macro cracks, Thereby undermining the overall stability of the structure, and Causes great economic losses. Thus, it is very important to study Both conditions and processes of structures.Based on the widespread crack of mass concrete structures, We studied the the development of cracks under uniform loads in The arch structure with both model test and numerical simulation in this paper. The main contents and results of the paper include the following sections:(1)Introduce the theories of fracture mechanics. Elaborate the common forms of cracks and several common fracture criterions. Analyze the commonly used method of arch dam cracks and their advantages and disadvantages currently.(2)The main causes of the cracks in the concrete arch dam and several common concrete fracture mechanics model..(3)Using the similarity principle, choose Shalaohe hyperbolic arch dam in Guizhou as the prototype, To Excerpts its1195m~1213m elevation monolith and make test model, simulating the Affect of hydrostatic pressure to the arch reserved cracks by heap load, To explore the conditions of the existing arch dam crack's propagation(4)Analyze the Crack propagation state of the test under water load Monolith through the way of XFEM, Comparing the status of the experimental process of crack propagation and the crack development in the case of numerical simulation.
