Coal is still the major energy source of China in a long time. With the development coal mining and high-power power electronic technology, the power electronic devices begin to be used in a large number of coal mines in recent years. PWM inverter-induction motor drive system has become the first choice of many variable speed drive equipments, which has gained great economic and social benefits, but the harmonic and electromagnetic interference caused by power electronics applications have been more and more concerned.This paper is aimed to the study of AC-DC-AC converter used in coal mine, the harmonic and electromagnetic interference (EMI) characteristics are analyzed, which are produced by the power electronic devices in the underground special electromagnetic environment. The motor performance under the influence of EMI is introduced and the underground EMI transmission paths and the suppression methods are given. The voltage reflection phenomenon is analyzed when using long cable connecting the inverter and the motor, and the topologies of inverter output and motor terminal filters are introduced. Finally, the parameters design method of several output filters is proposed and the validity of the parameter design is validated by Matlab simulation results.
