Based on the Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographical Information System(GIS) , take 10m resolution Remote Sensing Images of SPOT5 as the basic data resources and combine ground quadrate investigation, ground location data analysis and other documents, use relative math theories and methods, such as mean residual, ridge regression, stepwise regression et al. to discuss the ways of SPOT5 Remote Sensing data pre-processing, GIS spatial analysis and forest volume estimation based on Remote Sensing in order to provide the scientific basis and the technical method. The main research content and achievement have been obtained as follows:(1) Considering the characters of Huoditang Forest farm, forest monitoring makes use of the method of SPOT5 Remote sensing data pre-processing. It contains image correction and image enhancement (Histogram Equalization, Principal Component Analysis Transformation and Tasseled Cap Transform)(2) Lots of factors which affect the forest volume estimation were studied by many experts, but the common models were hard to build, due to huge differences among different study area, so further study is in need. In this paper, affected factors are classified into two groups: Remote sensing factors and GIS factors. Remote sensing factors were selected by Ridge regression with different plots'gray value and band ratio from SPOT5 Images: SP3, SP(1-2)/(1+2), SP(2-3)/(2+3). Selected other factors through correlation analysis: Elevation, Slope, Canopy Density, Average Height, Average DBH(3) Two estimation models were built through multivariate linear analysis, using selected factors. Model 1 is:The result shows that the model has significant linear relationship and higher correlation coefficients, can meet the accuracy requirements of forestry production. The Model can be applied in forest volume fast estimation.
