Based on application modules and statistical methods of ArcGIS software, with thesampling data of soil testing and formulated fertilization project and graphic documents of soilfertility evaluation project, this paper studied the spatial variation characteristics of the maintopsoil nutrient and average content in different towns and soil types in qingshui county, createdthe spatial distribution map of the main nutrient. The application of Arcgis9.3, Mapgis6.7andcultivated land resource management information system, and the use of analytic hierarchyprocess, fuzzy mathematics method synthetically, interset the generation evaluation unit mapwith the qingshui county soil map, present land use map, the administrative map which werefinished by digitalize, further using the analytic hierarchy process to determine the weights ofevaluation factor of soil fertility, and establish the corresponding membership function forevaluation indexes, by calculating the degree of membership, to acquire the integrated soilfertility index value of each assessment unit, and determine the grades of the soil fertility and itsarea based on the integrated value. The results showed that: in qingshui county, the soil organic matter presented moderatevariability and a rising trend from west to east; the organic matter content of the meadow soiland boggy soil was the highest, and the loess soil was the lowest. Total Nitrogen presented strongvariation; the available phosphorus presented moderate variation, the whole content was lowlevel, the available phosphorus content of the dark meadow soil was the highest and the brownsoil was the lowest. The available potassium presented weak mutation and the whole differencewas little, the available potassium content of the brown soil was the highest and the boggy soilwas the lowest.the comprehensive high area of qingshui county is20.34%of the total cultivatedland area; the medium area accounts for34.60%;the general region is34.20%, the bad area ofsoil fertility accounts for10.85%.The conclusion is: the use of cultivated land resourcemanagement information system with GIS can evaluate soil fertility more quickly andefficiently, and save plenty of human, financial and material resources compared to the traditionalmethods.
