Study On The Seed Sprouting Charaeteristics And Break Dormancy Of Cornus Wateri

This study focuses on seed propagation techniques of Cornus wateri. To study seed propagation, we researched morphology, physiological and biochemical characteristics, germination inhibitors, dormancy release technology of Cornus wateri seed and growth rhythm of Cornus wateri seedling. The results are as follows:1.It is shown significant differences among provenances of Cornus wateri, six provenances ranged from highest to lowest merits were Shaanxi Yang Lingzhen, Shandong Temple of the town,Shanxi Shenyang city, Hebei Jingxing City,Jiangxi Jiujiang City, Lushi County.2. Cornus wateri seed is an integrated dormancy seed.After falling in the natural mature, the kernel and the shell of seed still contained inhibitory substances, which was the main reason for the seed dormancy.The inhibitory activity of the kernel was higher than the seed capsule Besides,the machinery obstacles of the shell also would prevent seed germination.3.Different treatments to seeds from the same provenance to break the seed dormancy confirmed that the outdoor cold stratification technique was better , germination rate was 46.7%. Germination rate was 114 times of direct seeding. Germination time was 110d in advance. After 25℃40 d stratification, then 0-4℃40 d treatment was the best, germination rate was 22.3%. Conbined different GA₃ treatment and cold sand stratification found 150 mg/L GA₃ combining suggested the most effective treatment, the germination rate reach 48.43%, vermiculite was the best germination substrate.4.There were observed of seedling growth of Cornus wateri there was sowing 7 April. Emergence time for the 28 April. There were two growth peaks in early June and the end of July to early August. the average height of one-year-old seedlings of Cornus wateri was 101.11 cm,diameter 10.62 mm. The average seedling height of two-year-old was up to 259.23 cm, diameter 25.02 mm. Therefore, one-year-old seedlings could be field planted.
