Using the traditional techniques and electron microscopy analysistechnology, combining root morphological and physiologicalcharacteristics of combining, pot experiment and field test of dryshed were studied by combination of different drought stress on threekinds of physiological and ecological of different drought resistanceof millet varieties (strong drought resistance varieties of Longmi4,moderate drought resistant varieties of5283Huang and weak droughtresistant cultivars Jin shu7),the main results are as follows:(1) The effects of morphological indexes of different drought stress onBroomcorn millet, such as plant height, leaf area, root distribution, yield and yield component factors of morphological indexes are asfollows: Water Stress had the greatest effect on drought sensitivecultivars Jinshu7, followed by moderate drought resistant varietiesof5283Huang,the smallest is strong drought resistance varieties ofLongmi4. (2) Different growth stages in different degrees of water stressresistance of physiological and biochemical indexes of differentmillet varieties have different effect, and the effect level of broomcornmillet drought resistance, with water stress increased, the activity ofantioxidant enzymes and osmotic regulation substances areincreased, and with the growth period to advance, SOD activity andproline increased first and then decreased, while POD, soluble proteinand soluble sugar increased.(3) Along with the strengthening of water stress, the millet varietieschlorophyll content, photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance, transpiration rate, intercellular CO2concentration decreased withthe growth stage, in addition to photosynthesis and stomatalconductance angle, other indicators showed a rising trend. At thesame time water stress can reduce broomcorn millet instantaneouswater use efficiency.(4)The results showed the photosynthetic and transpiration rate ofJinshu7and5283Huang were influenced more heavily by water stressthan Longmi4.Changes to the efficiency of the PS Ⅱ center the sametrend as that of the photosynthetic rate under different growth stages. So the chlorophyll fluorescence kinetic technique can show thephotosynthetic characteristics of Broomcorn millets under differentwater stress. (5) Through the scanning electron microscopy study, it showed thatdrought tolerant varieties had density and more stomata, it also hadmore long hair and silicon cells on the distribution of the surface. Anddistribution has a dense mass of wax, meanwhile it has long hair onprincipal vein under epidermisWhen studying the drought resistance of Broom millet we should takefrom comprehensive factors from whole growing stages such as thecharacteristics of the morphologic and physiological and biochemicalindex and the final perform of the yield into consideration.
