Objective To compare the efficacy, side effects of the two different neoadjuvant chemotherapy for the treatment of the breast cancer. Methods Forty-two patients with stageⅡand stageⅢbreast cancers in the second affiliated hospital Zhejiang university were chosen for retrospectively analyzed. The regiments of neoadjuvant chemotherapy were TEC (Taxotere, Epirubicin, CTX) or FEC (5-Fu, Epirubicin, CTX). The clinical therapeutic effect was valuated after 4 cycles of neoadjuvant chemotherapy before surgery.Result Among all the 42 patients with operable breast cancer,29 patients received FEC regiment, the overall response rate (RR) was 51.7%(15/29),13 patients received FEC regiment, the rate of RR was 84.6%(11/13), there is significant statistical difference (P<0.05) between the two groups. In the both groups side effects including hair loss, skin rash and phlebitis, liver dysfunction were similar, incidence rates of leucopenia, peripheral neurotoxicity in TEC group was higher than that in FEC group. Incidence rate of nausea in FEC group was higher than that in TEC group. Conclusions The two different neoadjuvant chemotherapy regiments were both effective on the locally advanced breast cancer. Higher efficacy was observed in TEC group than that in FEC group. There is no more side effects in TEC group than that in FEC group.
