Objective:To evaluate the reliability, safety and efficacy of green laser in the treatment of 83 cases of superficial bladder tumor. Methods:A total of 83 patients, including 64 male and 19 female patients, aged 35 to 88(average 68), with superficial bladder tumor underwent 100W green laser vaporization from 2009.1 to 2010.10, single tumor in 61 cases and multiple tumors in 22 cases. The diameter of the tumor was 0.3~3.5cm, with the pathology stage Ta-T1 and grade G1~G2 by cystoscopic biopsy before the surgery. Biopsies of the tumoral bed were performed in the 31 cases from 2010.3 to 2010.10.Results:All patients underwent operations successfully, with the operation time 1 Omin~40min(average 20min), and no obturator jerk, bladder perforation or secondary hemorrhage occurred. According to the pathology results, in the 31 cases, none of the speciments grabbed from the tumor bed contained residual malignant tissue. The catheters were removed 1 to 5 days after the operations and no bladder washing was necessary. The patients were followed up for 6 to 24 months(average 15 months), with 6 cases of ectopic recurrence and no in-field recurrence. Conclusions:Green laser vaporization in the treatment of bladder tumors, which can ablate the entire tumor deeply enough, is a effective, safe and minimally invasive method with less complications, especially suitable for those of advanced age or at high risk.
