Objectives1. Raise the replicated a successful model of segmental heterotopic small bowel transplantation (SBT) model in rats.2. To observe rat small bowel transplantation in acute pathological features of small bowel transplantation.Methods1. Forty pairs of male Wistar rats were used as donors and recipients. The segmental small bowel with a vascular pedicle composed of superior mesenteric artery(SMA)and portal vein(PV) was harvested as the graft. Technical modifications include inreagastric administration with antibiotics before surgical operation, administering optimum volumes of crystalloid during donor and recipient surgeries. Revascularization was accomplished by end-to-side anastomosis between donor SMA and recipient infrarenal aorta using simple interrupted suture and cuffer end-to-end anasmosis between donor PV and left renal vein of recipient.Femoral vein is used for fluid replacement. After surgery histological changes of small bowel transplantation was observed. Normal intestinal tissue is as controlResultThere were fewer complications and a shorter ischaemia time. The survival is 35/40.All rats showed the most serious ischemia-reperfusion injury 24 hours after Reperfusion.Conclusion:1. Applying the modified technique for SBT would remarkably reduce the complexity of operation.Raise successful model of segmental heterotopic small bowel transplantation (SBT) model in rats.2. ischemia-reperfusion injury of small bowel transplantation in acute pathological features are mucosal damage, mucosal hemorrhage, submucosal edema.
