| Objective To investigate the change of bone mineral density of adults who has epilepsy belongs to tonic-chronic seizures without antiepileptic drug, and analyze the related factors influence on bone mineral density.Methods Bone mineral density of 29 adults who has epilepsy belongs to tonic-chronic seizures without any antiepileptic drug was tested and compared to that of 30 healthy people.Total alkaline phosphatase,blood phosphorus concentration and calcium concentration were detected and analyzed.Results The overall average bone mineral density Z of tonic-chronic seizures group was significantly lower than normal control group (P=0.007). The correlation of age, gender, disease duration, weight and other factors to bone mineral density of tonic-chronic seizures group was analyzed. The result showed that there is a correlation between weight and gender. The correlation analysis indicated that bone mineral density has a positive correlation with weight (B=0.07,P=0.018),1 to male and -1 to female. And it has a positive correlation with female and negative with male(B=-0.38,P=0.009).Conclusion Tonic-chronic seizures could decrease the bone mineral density of patient, with body weight being a protective factor and women affected less than men. |
