Objective The objective is to observe the visual quality of aspherical artificial lens after implantation in traumatic cataract patients. Methods The study sampled 60 traumatic cataract patients (60 eyes) in which 52 patients (52 eyes) suffered from corneal perforating and 8 patients (8 eyes) were troubled with blunt trauma. They must be fit these standards:Patients were between 8-30 years old; Their astigmatism were within the bounds of -3.OD~3.OD; The corneal scar was in peripheral zone; Their corneal endothelial cell densities were upon 1000/mm2;There were displace or deformation in pupil, especially large pupils; The patient had the entire posterior capsular or lighter damaged on it which have no need to implant ciliary groove sutured intraocular lens; There was no complication occurred pre-operative or post-operative. Exclusion criteria:Patients were found to have same diseases preoperative which make obvious influence on the function of fundus, such as vitreous foreign body, retinal tear and optic nerve-retinal contusion; There was corneal wound in the central or there were large scar after healing which make the visual acuity become worse; Those patients with a history of glaucoma, uveitis, retinal detachment, diabetes or autoimmune diseases were excluded. They were divided into two groups in random and on average and treated with implantation of spherical artificial lens Akreos AO (Bausch & Lomb, USA) and tradition sphere intraocular lens Akreos adapt(Bausch & Lomb, USA) respectively. All of the operations were performed by one skilled doctor successfully with no complication happened postoperative. Uncorrected visual acuity(UCVA), best corrected visual acuity(BCVA), contrast sensitivity (CS) and stereoscopic vision were observed 3 months and 6 months postoperatively, at the same time, we obtained the satisfaction of patients by questionnaire survey.Spssl7.0 statistic software was used to handle data. Chi-square test was used to analyze general information preoperative. Kruskal Wallis H was used to analyze UCVA and BCVA postoperatively. Wilcoxon Test was conducted. Put P<0.05 as the sufficient level, means there is statistic significance different. Results There were no statistic significant differences in UCVA and BCVA between two groups 3 months and 6 months postoperatively (P>0.05). We got the same result in stereoscopic vision 6 months postoperatively(P>0.05).There were statistic significant differences in every stages of contrast sensitivity especially in glare (P<0.05). Questionnaire survey showed there were 24 patients satisfied in percentage of 90% after implantation of spherical artificial lens Akreos AO contrast with 16 patients in percentage of 53.3% in tradition sphere intraocular lens Akreos adapt. Conclusions 1. The visual quality after implantation of spherical artificial lens Akreos AO in traumatic cataract patients was superior to tradition sphere intraocular lens Akreos adapt.2. Spherical artificial lens Akreos AO is more appropriate for the patients with small corneal scar, little damage in posterior capsule or better fundus function relatively. The reason may be it can reserve or even enhance the visual quality and the quality of life after the trauma.
