Objective:Petroclival region is a special area,located in the central part of deep skull. The meningioma occured in this region, because the position deep, and often involving of multiple vessels and nerves, surgery is difficult, postoperative complications will appear in petrosal-clivus meningioma which affect the patient's quality of life。This paper analysis the petroclival meningiomas surgical treatment of adverse clinical consequences may risk factors, Seek a balance between improve living quality and reduce the recurrence after the ideal operation strategy.Methods:We recruited 50 patients with petroclival meningioma who received operations in our hospital between the year of 2005 and 2010.There were 12 male and 38 female patients with a mean age of 48.5 years. The primary outcomes including.Prognostic factors analysis including postoperative neurological dysfunction, Karnofsky Performance Scale quality of life score and the recurrence rate. The follow-up time was 6-36 months.Result:Gross total resection was achieved in 64%(32) of patients, and subtotal resection was achieved in 20%(10) of Patients. Two patient died in the peroperative period because of intracranial hemorrhage and one patient died by accident.29 patients experienced new postoperative cranial nerve deficits(24) or paresis(5) and 13 patients KPS score lower during the follow-up period.
