Correlation Study On The Serum Testosterone Levels, IIEF-5 Scores And Erectile Function

Objective : we investigated the difference between serum levels of testosterone,IIEF-5 scores,age and duration of disease in different types of ED patients and normal persons, in order to provide reference information for the ED diagnosis and differential diagnosis.Methods: According to detailed medical history , age,duration of disease, the blood serum testosterone examination and IIEF-5 scores, 9 normal persons and 50 ED patients were detected by NPT monitoring facilities,then were divided into three groups followed the examination results and clinical manifestations : 9 normal persons were classed with group A;30 psychological ED patients were classed with group B;20 organic ED patients were classed with group C.All data was calculated by spss13.0.Statistical significance esisted at P<0.05.Results: Blood serum testosterone level of group A, B, C respectively is (17.66-50.51)nmol/L,(7.08-45.98)nmol/L ,(7.08-37.35)nmol/L; mean blood serum testosterone level of then was 31.43±11.79nmol/L,25.47±9.48 nmol/L,18.95±7.24 nmol/L respectively. The difference of blood serum testosterone level betweem group A and B showed no statistical significance ( t=1.477,P=0.149 > 0. 05);whereas the difference between group B and C( t=2.570,P=0.014<0.05) and the difference between group A and group C(t=3.427,P=0.002<0.05) were significant ; there was no statistic significance compared the IIEF-5 score of group B with group C (t=-0.277,p=0.783, P>0.05);there was no statistical significance between group A and group C on age(P=0.068>0.05),as the same of the duration of diseases between group B and group C( P=0.733>0.05).There was a correlation between blood serum testosterone level and erection number of times(r=0.306).So was the correlation between blood serum testosterone level and average erectile time(r=0.313).However the blood serum testosterone level had no correlation to the mean tension (r=0.018).Conclusion:The organic ED patients'blood serum testosterone level was lower than the normal persons and the psychological ED patients obviously. Erectile number of times and average erectile time according to NPT examination were positive related to the testosterone level. IIEF-5 scores among all types of ED patients showed no obvious difference; the age of organic ED patients was significantly higher than that of psychological ED patients.
