This thesis is composed of three chapters. The first chapter, the capital of this thesis, is regarding the study on the chemical constituents and neuroprotective effects of Pausinystalia yohimbe. The second chapter studies on the chemical constituents from the petroleum ether extract of Juglans Cathayensis Dode. The third chapter reviews on the resource of yohimbe and its isomers and their pharmacological activities.Pausinystalia yohimbe mainly grows in tropical regions of the west coast of Africa. In order to find more effective use of it, this paper concerns about chemical constituents and neuroprotective effects of Pausinystalia yohimbe. As a result, 18 compounds have been isolated and 17 of them are identified on the basis of the physical constants and spectroscopic analysis. The structure of them are corynantheidine (1); corynantheine (2); corynoxine B (3); corynoxine (4); corynanthine (5); sitosterol palmitate (6); sitosterol acetate (7);β-sitosterol (8); daucosterol (9); eicosanoicacid(10); stigmastane-3β-6α-diol(11); ursolic acid (12); quinovic acid (13); Acetylquinovic acid (14); quinovic acid 3-O-6-deoxy-β-D-glucopyranoside (15); quinovic acid 3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (16); quinovic acid 3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(4â†'1)-β-D-glucopyranoside (17). They were isolated from the plant for the first time. MTT assay has been conducted to test protective effects of compounds(1,2,13,15,17) against CoCl2 or H2O2 -induced injury to SH-SY5Y cells. Compound 2,17 protect SH-SY5Y cells from CoCl2-induced injury while compound 13,17 protect SH-SY5Y cells from H2O2-induced injury. This paper also studies the chemical constituents of petroleum ether extract of Juglans Cathayensis Dode. As a result, 12 compounds have been isolated and 9 of them are identified. The structure of them are isoselachoceric acid (18); octacosanol (19); daturic acid 2, 3-dihydroxyopropyl (20); 2-(n-octacosanoxy) Ethanol (21); (+) Galeon(22); Jugcathnin A (23); 2-Ethoxyjuglone (24); Kaempferol(25); Z-P-Coumaryl-hexacosanoate (26).
