Clinical Research Of Suanzaoren Tang In Treating Chronic Hepatopathy Of Blood Deficiency Syndrome Complicating Insomnia

Objective:To study the significance of the TCM theory of "Liver storing blood, Blood keeping the soul" through the clinical curative effect of Suanzaoren Tang on chronic hepatopathy of blood deficiency syndrome complicating insomnia.Methods:This research collected 60 cases of chronic hepatopathy of blood deficiency syndrome complicating insomnia according to the diagnostic criterion, adoption criterion and exclusive standard. These cases were divided randomly into two groups that the treatment group had 30 cases (3 ones dropped-out) and the control group had 30 cases (2 ones dropped-out). Before the research started, all of cases must stop treatment of hypnotics. Treatment group was treated with Suanzaoren Tang and control group was treated with Estazolam. This observation of the treatment continued for 8 weeks. In the end of the research, we compared the rating of SRSS, PSQI, SAS, SDS, TCM symptoms scores and the level of ALT, AST, TBiL and PTA between two groups by statistical analysis.Results:Assessment on treatment effects:1. According to the result of SRSS and PSQI scores calculated by statistical analysis, total rate of efficacy in treatment group is 92.6%. This rate in control group is 92.9%. The efficacy of two groups do NOT have significant differences(P>0.05).2. The SAS and SDS scores in two groups haven't overstepped critical value. So we have NO found anxiety or depression in insomnia during this clinical observation.3. The two groups can both improve TCM clinical symptoms. But statistics result manifests that there are significant differences between two groups(P<0.05). The efficacy of treatment group is obviously better than control group's.4. There are NO significant differences between two groups on ALT, TBiL and PTA(P>0.05). But it has significant difference on AST between them(P<0.05).Conclusion:Based on "Liver storing blood, Blood keeping the soul", blood is the material basis of physiological activities such as slumber. The chronic hepatopathy patients are prone to insomnia due to deficiency of liver-blood. Suanzaoren Tang has a notable effect on insomnia of liver-blood deficiency. The observations indicate that Suanzaoren Tang can reduce sleep latency, increase sleep efficiency, and improve sleep quality and hepatic function. All of these prove that sleeping has a close connection with liver, and further explain clearly the meaning of "Liver storing blood, Blood keeping the soul".
