Differences in the levels of cerebrospinal fluid and serum S100B and NSE between patients with and without convulsion or spasm , with and without conscious disturbance in the VE caused by HFMD group were compared. Results: 1. S100B levels of cerebrospinal fluid in VE caused by HFMD group, HFMD only group and control group were (2.96±0.97), (0.61±0.16) and (0.55±0.13) ng/ml; Serum S100B levels in VE caused by HFMD group, HFMD only group and control group were (0.79±0.20), (0.49±0.04) and (0.48±0.02) ng/ml; The cerebrospinal fluid and serum S100B levels of patients with VE caused by HFMD were significantly higher than control group patients (P﹤ 0.01), but those patients with HFMD only were not higher than those in controls (P﹥0.05).2. The cerebrospinal fluid S100B levels of patients with and without convulsion or spasm in VE caused by HFMD group were (3.41±0.98) and (2.41±0.65) ng/ml; The serum S100B levels of patients with and without convulsion or spasm in VE caused by HFMD group were (0.88±0.17) and (0.68±0.18) ng/ml; The cerebrospinal fluid S100B levels of patients with and without conscious disturbance in VE caused by HFMD group were (3.47±0.68) and (2.45±0.78) ng/ml; The serum S100B levels of patients with and without conscious disturbance in VE caused by HFMD group were (0.90±0.18) and (0.71±0.18) ng/ml; The cerebrospinal fluid and serum S100B levels of patients with convulsion or spasm in VE caused by HFMD group were significantly higher than those of patients without convulsion or spasm (P﹤0.01), and those of patients with conscious disturbance in VE caused by HFMD group were higher than those of patients without somnolence or hypnody (P﹤0.01).3. S100B levels of cerebrospinal fluid in VE caused by HFMD group had positive correlation with and serum S100B levels (r=0.78, P﹤0.01).4. NSE levels of cerebrospinal fluid in VE caused by HFMD group, HFMD group and control group were (41.97±3.73), (6.39±0.87) and (6.01±0.84) ng/ml; Serum NSE levels in VE caused by HFMD group, HFMD group and control group were (8.87±1.75), (4.46±0.75) and (3.92±0.75) ng/ml; The cerebrospinal fluid and serum NSE levels of patients with VE caused by HFMD were significantly higher than control group patients (P﹤0.05), but those patients with HFMD only were not higher than those in controls (P﹥0.05).5. The cerebrospinal fluid NSE levels of patients with and without convulsion or spasm in VE caused by HFMD group were (43.80±2.81) and (39.90±3.62) ng/ml; The serum NSE levels of patients with and without convulsion or spasm in VE caused by HFMD group were (9.85±1.39) and (7.76±1.43) ng/ml; The cerebrospinal fluid NSE levels of patients with and without conscious disturbance in VE caused by HFMD group were (44.78±2.51) and (40.03±3.25) ng/ml; The serum NSE levels of patients with and without conscious disturbance in VE caused by HFMD group were (10.24±1.22) and (7.83±1.47) ng/ml; The cerebrospinal fluid and serum NSE levels of patients with convulsion or spasm in VE caused by HFMD group were significantly higher than those of patients without convulsion or spasm (P﹤0.05), and those of patients with conscious disturbance in VE caused by HFMD group were higher than those of patients without conscious disturbance (P﹤0.05). 6. NSE levels of cerebrospinal fluid in VE caused by HFMD group had positive correlation with and serum NSE levels (r=0.87, P﹤0.01).Conclusions: 1. The cerebrospinal fluid and serum S100B levels of patients with VE caused by HFMD relate to the degree of severity. Detection of S100B of patients with VE caused by HFMD contributes not only to assess the severe degree but also to predict their prognoses.2. The cerebrospinal fluid and serum NSE levels of patients with VE caused by HFMD relate to degree of severity.3. Both S100B and NSE can be predictor in the progression of severe patients with HFMD . | | Keywords/Search Tags: | enterovirus 71, hand foot and mouth disease, encephalitis, S100B, NSE | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
