| Objective:To investigate the expression of secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2) and c yclooxygenase-2(COX-2) in fetal membranes in association with preterm deliveries.Methods:The expressions of COX-2 and sPLA2 in fetal membranes were exami ned by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR.The samples were obtained from 8 preterm labor (PL),12 term in labor(TL) and 12 term not in labor(TNL).Results:The expressing of COX-2 and sPLA2 in fetal membranes in PL were 159.5 1±38.97,144.17±57.31,respectively;in TL were 135.07±25.94,172.12±66.29,respectivel y,and TNL were 91.03±33.68,84.25±42.78,respectively.The expression of sPLA2and C OX-2 was significantly higher in the PL compared to TNL (P<0.05) and in the TL group compared to the TNL group (P<0.05). There was also a non-significant increa se of sPLA2 expression in TL and PL compared to TNL samples.Conclusion:sPLA2 and COX-2 may play an important role in the onset of prematur e delivery. |
