Objective To analyze the influence of brain tumors on nearby hand motor function areas andcorticospinal tract by BOLD-fMRI and DTI, and explore the value of combining BOLD-fMRIand DTI in the surgical treatment of brain tumors.Methods25brain tumor cases were collected in our hospital. All the patients are right-handedand have tumors (including11Astrocytomas,8meningiomas and6metastases) located in or ne--ar the functional areas of hand motor cortex, which have been diagnosed by pathological exami--nation. Before operation, all the patients received regular MRI, DTI and BOLD-fMRI scan byHDx3.0T superconducting magnetic resonance scanner,8-channel head and neck joint coil(GE).The original data from BOLD-fMRI and DTI were post analyzed with the use of SPM andFunctiontool to get corresponding functional activation image, FA image and DTT image.Therelative activation V value and the relative activation T value of functional area use theSPSS16.0software analysis.Results:1.There was no significant difference in activation intensity of the function area betwe--en patients with different kinds of tumor and controls. However, there was statistical differencein activation intensity of the function area between tumor patients occurred in different locationsand controls.2. There was significant difference in activation range of the function area in tumorpatients with different locations and types, compared with controls.3. Corticospinal tracts weresuccessfully rebuilt in all the patients. According to its relationship with tumors, the corticospinaltracts can be divided into displacement, invasion, and destruction. There were10patients withonly displacement,10patients with displacement&invasion,5patients with displacement&destruction.Conclusion:1.The BOLD-fMRI in functional areas of hand motor cortex area can clearly showthe activation in tumor and normal sides. There was significant difference between brain tumorswith different types and locations.2. Combined with pseudo-color images, DTI display thechange of corticospinal tract's running and integration.3. DTI and BOLD-fMRI werecomplement each other, which can demonstrate the relationship of brain function areas,subcortical white matter fibers and brain tumors, as well as provide important information onsurgical treatment of brain tumors.
