Study On Pre-pregnancy Health Literacy Of Adults In Jinning Of Kunming

Objective:To find out the prevalence of Pre-pregnancy Health Literacy in adults of Jinning, Kunming of Yunnan province so that to explore its influencing factors. Then give the policy recommendations to promote the Eugenic Health Promotion Project, and reduce the incidence of birth defects.Material and methods:Relied on Eugenic Health Promotion Project developing in Yunnan province,500respondents from the18to60, who living in Jinning, Kunming since before2008, were chose by us with purposive sampling, then survey respondents by questionnaire. The content of questionnaire conclude three dimension which is knowledge, attitude and skills of pre-pregnant health literacy from the preconception counseling and health literacy. We interview the leadership and staffs who working in the city and county family planning branch, so that explore the breakthrough point and feasibility of health literacy adhibit the process of Eugenic Health Promotion Project. We used Epidata3.1to establish a database and SPSS13.0to make statistical analysis.Result: There were261respondents who had pre-pregnant health literacy, rate was53.08%, and had knowledge literacy,attitude literacy, and behavior literacy was55.08%,95.73%and49.03%.Jinning's adults were weak at the pregnant examination content, best childbearing age, folic acid supplemented dose and method. One-factor non-parametric test showed that the gender, age, occupation, marital status and income of the crowd, had significant difference in pre-pregnant literacy. Logistic regression showed marriage, gender, monthly income and age had effect on pregnant health literacy and from the absolute value of regression coefficient, we could see that marital status was the most important factor(1.288),gender was less important(0.563), and age is the least one(0.048). Personal interview showed that the family planning branch staffs generally wanted for professional pre-pregnant health knowledge training, and advancing health literacy has the value of promote the Eugenic Health Promote Project.Conclusion:At present, the pre-pregnant health literacy level of Jinning's adults is a bit low, and also exist weakness domains. The influent factors of pre-pregnant health literacy are gender, age, occupation and marital status. In the Eugenic Health Promote Project, we should choose the male, town-living well-paid people and unmarried adults as the key intervention crowd, that intensify the pre-pregnant health education and health propaganda. It also should adopt more modern ways to propaganda and augment the expertise trainings of primary family planning branch staffs.
