| Objective: TO examinate the variation of Big five personality level inclinical nurses in Shijiazhuang and the relationship between Big fivepersonality and Nursing job performance,to find the predictor in Big fivepersonality to Nursing jop performance,improve Nursing jop performanceand improve utilization of human resource.Mehtods: this is a descriptive cross-sectional design.According tostratified and cluster sampling,660registered nurses of6hospital inShijiazhuang were selected. There instruments were used for date collection:General demographic questionare,General big five personality scale andthe Self-Appraisal Nursing Performance.Describing analysis, t test,one-wayANOVA, SNK test, Pearson correlation analysis and multiple linearregression analysis were performed by SPSS13.0.Results:1. multiple linear regression analysis shows that there was asignificant relationship between Education levels and Openness(b'=0.229),Duties and Conscientiousness(b'=0.133), Duties(b'=0.239)/Marital statu(sb'=0.204)and Agreeableness, Enrollmen(tb'=-0.165)/Shift(b'=-0.135)and Neuroticism.2. correlation analysis shows: there was a significantly associate aboutNursing jop performance with Openness (r=0.337), Conscientiousness(r=0.309), Extraversion(r=0.236), Agreeableness(r=0.171) andNeuroticism(r=-0.198).3. multiple linear regression analysis was performed to determine therelative contribution of Big five personality in Nursing jop performance:R=0.516, R2=0.303. The strongest correlations to Nursing job performance isConscientiousness, Extraversion and Agreeableness were next,followed by the Openness, and the final is Neuroticism.4.The study explained30.2%of the variance in Leadership by thepersonality traits; Explained18.4%of the variance in Critical care by thepersonality traits; Explained13.9%of the variance in Communication by thepersonality traits; Explained7.6%of the variance in Professional developmentby the personality traits; Explained15.8%of the variance inTeaching/Collaboration by the personality traits; Explained16%of thevariance in Planning/Evaluation by the personality traits. There was asignificant relationship between: Conscientiousness and Leadership(b'=0.224); Extraversion and Leadership(b'=0.204); Conscientiousness andCritical care(b'=0.208); Agreeableness and Communication(b'=0.274);Openness and Professional development (b'=0.151); Openness andTeaching/Collaboration (b'=0.261); Openness and Planning/Evaluation(b'=0.245).Conclusion:1There is a positive correlation between the Big five personality fourdimensions (Openness,Conscientiousness,Extraversion and Agreeableness)and Nursing jop performance total scale and various dimensions of Nursingjop performance. There is a negative correlation between the Neuroticismdimension of Big five personality and Nursing jop performance total scale andvarious dimensions of Nursing jop performance.2Big five personality was affected by demographic variables. there was apositive relationship between Education levels and Openness, Duties,Enrollment and Conscientiousness, Duties,Marital status and Agreeableness,Enrollment,Shift and Neuroticism.3Big five personality was a powerful predictor to Nursing jopperformance. |
