Effects Of Cleaners On The Color Stability Of Prosthesis Silicone Rubbers

[Objective] To evaluate the effects of different cleaners on the color stability of silicon rubber used for maxillofacial prosthesis, and to provide recommendations for clinical use.[Materials and Methods] Experiment1:Divide20samples of pure silicone rubbers into5groups cleaned with the23℃150ml following solutions:A tap water(control group),B denture cleaners,C liquid detergent,D hand sanitizer,E randoririkiddo and4in each group randomly. Experiment2:Divide20samples of silicone rubbers with0.5%nani-TiO2into5groups cleaned with the23℃150ml following solutions:A tap water(control group),B denture cleaners s,C liquid detergent,D hand sanitize,E randoririkiddo and4in each group randomly. Experiment3:Divide20samples of silicone rubbers with0.03%iron oxide yellow into5groups cleaned with the23℃150ml following solutions:A tap water(control group),B denture cleaners,C liquid detergent,D hand sanitizer,E randoririkiddo and4in each group randomly. And completely immerged15min each time then washed1min by tap water and dried by filter paper,45h in all(amount to6months),measured L*,a*,b*values at the time points of before cleaning,7.5h,15h,22.5h,30h,37.5h,45h,and calculated△E.[Results]Experiment1:After being immersed, at each time point the△E of group E randoririkiddo was the largest and following was D hand sanitizer,A tap water(control group),B denture cleaners, C liquid detergent, and at7.5h and15h point, A tap water(control group),B denture cleaners,C liquid detergent were the best,D hand sanitizer was better and E randoririkiddo was the worst; at22.5h,30h,37.5h,45h point, A tap water(control group), B denture cleaners,C liquid detergent were better than D hand sanitizer,E randoririkiddo; only D had effects on color stability during time, and the color stability change had taken place in the early(amount to2months). Experiment2:After being immersed, at each time point the△E of group A tap water(control group) was the largest and following was E randoririkiddo,D hand sanitize, C liquid detergent, B denture cleaners, and there was no difference between each group at the first three time points, but B denture cleaners, C liquid detergent, D hand sanitize, E randoririkiddo were better than A tap water(control group); only D had effects on color stability during time, and the color stability change had taken place in30h(amount to4months),then changed little. Experiment3:After being immersed, at each time point the△E of group D hand sanitizer was the largest and following was E randoririkiddo,A tap water(control group),C liquid detergent,B denture cleaners, and there was no difference between each group at7.5h point, at15h,22.5h point A tap water(control group),B denture cleaners,C liquid detergent were better than D hand sanitize,E randoririkiddo; at30h point A tap water(control group),B denture cleaners,C liquid detergent,E randoririkiddo were better than D hand sanitizer; at37.5h,45h point B denture cleaners was the best and then was C liquid detergent,E randoririkiddo,D hand sanitizer; only D had effects on color stability during time, and the color stability change had taken place in22.5h(amount to3months),then changed little.[Conclusions]1tap water,denture cleaners,liquid detergent have the same effect on the color stability of pure silicone rubber, and it less than hand sanitizer and randoririkiddo, so hand sanitizer and randoririkiddo are not advised to be used.2denture cleaners,liquid detergent,hand sanitize,randoririkiddo have less effect on the color stability of silicone rubber with nano-TiO2than tap water, but there is a layer opaque substance on the surface of silicone rubbers which are immersed in hand sanitizer, so hand sanitizer is not advised to be used.3denture cleaners has the least effect on the color stability of silicone rubber with iron oxide yellow,and it is advised to be used;while hand sanitizer and randoririkiddo have the biggest, so hand sanitizer and randoririkiddo are not advised to be used. Above all, denture cleaners has the least effect on the color stability of prostheses silicone rubber, and it can be used in life; hand sanitizer has the biggest effect and is not advised to be used.
