The mechanism of Congestive Heart failure(CHF) and the drugs which were used for treating CHF have been described in this thesis. Levosimendan is one of drugs for treating CHF. The action mechanisms and the development of Levosimendan have also been introduced.Levosimendan was synthesized from L-lactic acid via twelve steps with overall yield is 11.9% which was 0.5% more than that of the literal synthetic method. The structure of Levosimendan was confirmed by MS and ~1H-NMR. The synthetic technology of Levosimendan and its intermediates were investigated in detail. In the synthetic technology of the intermediate 4, the yield was 6.5% more than the literal synthetic method. In the synthetic technology of the intermediate 8, the yield was improved compared to literatures. During the preparation of the intermediate 6, resolvent was changed and the yield was 1% more than the literal synthetic method so as to reduce production cost. The process of the intermediate 9 was simplified. Moreover, the intermediates 2, 6, 7 and 11 were purified by recrystallization instead of the method which was reported in literatures. The recrystallization method reduces the operation period and production cost and was suitable to industrialization.
