Letter is a tool for social communication and also is a personal creation. Considering letter as a special and literary style, it has a unique aesthetic value of literature. Letters in the history of Tibetan literature has a profound impact, but comments about it has been few. Currently, when Tibetan Scholars study epistolary poems, they only concern about the ages and the purity of some famous article, and scattered in a comprehensive study of the relevant authors and individual works of study. When doing overview epistolary literature, most appear to be lack of sorting and intensive exploration. In the history of Tibetan literature, letters experienced from production to development and it has thousands of years of history, especially after the Hong phase, during the process of translation and dissemination of Indian poems, excellent works of many writers were pushed to the peak their career with significant progress. Subjects mainly focus on military and political ideas, current events, exploring the Buddhism, lyrical writing, etiquette, and scene description. They showed different artistic styles, thoughts, world state, fashions which can be found in the letters. Epistolary narrative poems have unique style and art form, as a result its ancient art style is greatly favored.Besides conclusion and postscript, this paper is divided into three chapters.The first chapter focuses on tracing the origin of letters of historical documents, its development process, and it is roughly divided into two categories, usage letter and literature letter. Early letters and epistolary poetry has deep connections, but also connected with the ancient Indian Buddhist scriptures' translation.The second chapter, focused on the introduction of Tibetan letters, stresses that it not only played an important role in the creation theory but also guided the artistic letters. Relevant introductions to letters referred a number of introductions, but the author, according to the collected references, conducted exploratory analysis.The third chapter analyses whether or not the epistolary poem is forming an independent style and the relationship between epistolary literature and other literary genres. Letters written with literary phenomenon is prevalent in the Chinese and foreign literature works. Western epistolary novels, ancient Chinese epistolary prose, and epistolary form of Tibetan literature are written with epistolary form. Therefore, letters, fictions, prose and poems become a new type of classical writing style.Letters contain a wide range of content with flexible writing, and a variety of literary styles. What a writer sees, thinks and behaves determines its unique style, but studies on epistolary poems of Tibetan is almost empty. Based on this, even the writer is not knowledgeable, he tries to explore the meaning and literary value of these letters, with simple personal opinions.
