This dissertation studies the poem series from the thatched hut poems of Du-fu. A poem series possesses the character of an effective interpretation on t macro level. A crucial element in a poem series is that it must show continuity, with the ability to demonstrate a rational reasoning and completeness as a whole. On account of this characteristic, a poet must put in enormous effort in its arrangement and layout while composing; this will prompt the poet to express his thought in a more thorough manner.This dissertation is divided into five parts; firstly, it seeks to characterize Du-fu's life style, encounters and the switch of his writing style. Secondly, this thesis attempted to search the poet's emotion during his periods of stay in thatched hut. Thirdly, a discussion as to how the poet manages to express his patriotic love for his nation by reflecting the same through surrounding things and objects around his environment. Fourthly, the poet's serene life style during his stay in thatched hut was reflected via the said poem series. Fifthly, the poet's deep sense of calmness was demonstrated through his description of his surrounding and the sentimental feelings towards the changing of the four seasons.The author has endeavored to explore the true sentiment of the poet through his thatched hut poems series, to present his personality in an objective manner, his spiritual aspect and his philosophy toward life as reflected by his serene life style.
