On The Localization Of Western Vocal Musi

Singing technique is one of the most often focused points in vocal music studies. The western vocal music singing technique, represented by Bel canto, is widely regarded as a scientifically correct singing method. As vocal musicians in China, we should learn their singing method, in the mean while, and more important, we should make it serve us and the development of vocal music in our own country. This thesis is a practical study on singing technique, based on the former theories of localizing the western vocal music. And the topics as western singing techniques'"serving China"and"serving in China" are discussed with stress.For years of vocal music practice, the viewpoint is developed from author's personal experience and understanding on the localization of western vocal music, especially from that of as a postgraduate student, tutored by Professor Zhou Xiaoyan, in Shanghai Music Conservatory since 2008. This thesis, hopefully, may offer some help to the fraternity in studying western vocal music, and therefore cause more attention paid on the localization of western vocal music, especially on the fusion of its singing techniques and our national characteristics.
