As art types, after getting the favour of Muse, film and televison have an indissoluble bond with classic literature. Film pictures and TV series based on adapation of literary classics had made process from being a sightseeing and news recorder to an art carrier. Successful adaptations always fully embody the esssence of the original works, and also adapt the spirit of times.The adventure stories of Robinson Crusoe and the image of Robinson Crusoe are well known to worldwide readers. As one of the literature classic, it has a long adaptation history with rich content. This article attempts to make a comprehensive description of the novel adaptation, discuss the differences between adaptation strategies, compare the images of Robinson Crusoe in film and television works, and analysis the adaptation's common attention on the ideological content of the novel.The first chapter summarized the adaptation history of Robinson crusoe in four parts. The early film adaptation period mainly refered to some scenes of the novel. The Soviet version of Robinson crusoe and Luis Bunuel's surrealism work laid a foundation of the adaptation. In the late 20th century, which was the mature period of the adaptation history, the characters were remodeled. Robinson crusoe'sadaptation was multi-layered in the New century and more entertaining tendency was found in the new adaptation works.The second chapter analysed the adaptation process of Robinson crusoe basing on the art convertion from novel to film and TV works. As the novel's basic theme reappeared in adaptation, the film and TV works inpercepted or expansed the story and made the characters present a different style. The cinematic storytelling skill was the key to the adaptation process. It guided the audience's emotion with the image language. The integrity of literature narrative system was then replaced by the integrity of the film and TV works'narrative system.The third chpater placed the adaptation under the culture vision of Pluralism. Postcolonialism was an common angle in Robinson crusoe's adaptation. The modern westren society recalled and refleted the spirit of Robinson through the film and TV works. Robinson's hero image weakened, the culture identity of Friday was accepted, the novel's Religious atmosphere secularized, and Robinson became a spirit simbol in commercial community. To some extent, Robinson was an cultural imagination. In modern context the image got a new interpretation. It caught the attention of cultural pluralism and ecological socialism.The fourth chapter discussed the adaptation's condition within the Hollywood conception, considering the new trendence of film and TV adaptation in the new century. Humanity, family values and entertainment were important topics in the American adaptation works. The Holywood conception focused on the solution to art's Business problem. Entertainment started to influence the aesthetic style of film and television works. The Hollywood's Robinson Crusoe was star-celebrated and popular with huge investment. It met the audience's emotional needs, and bridged the gulf between individual value and consumption culture.
