"Totem Department Type" Oil Paintings Performance Study

Totem and painting art are naturally combined, and the images of totem produced in forms of symbols. In art, totem has a special aesthetic modes and expressive methods. With a publicity function, it conveys people's sensibility of history. In expressive methods, it's generally used by the ways of painting. Most of time, the totem we see is reflected in the traditional way. Based on the study of totem and oil painting, it attempts to explore a set of new languages of painting.The paper is consist of three parts:the introduction, the theory and the conclusion. Firstly, based on the Chinese totem history, the study identifies the connection between totem and modern painting through the data collection and research. Secondly, using the comparative and combined methods to discuss how the ancient classical culture points into the modern art style. Finally, we get a conclusion that the ancient totem art will not be forgotten in modern society. It enriches and develops with the progress of era. And it is a constantly updated form of artistic expression in ancient Chinese culture, which has an indelible meaning to the progress of Chinese culture.
