During the Book-learning history of Qing Dynasty, Yao Jiheng and Fang Yurun, the two scholars, exceeded the struggle of different factions. They both, without sectarian portal trend or prejudice, independently thought, and freely researched to probe Book of Songs'original intention. They have achieved remarkable results. Especially they two adopted the way that they illustrated the Book of Songs in terms of what the Book of Songs said. This kind of method that the Book of Songs should be explained as literature works is of great significance to the later study. Since they had not followed or copied any school's ideas and methods, they are not consented to or valued by others at that time. However, people found their study so valuable since modern times. One thing is for sure that, Fang Yurun had seen General Explanation on the Book of Songs written by Yao, and Original Meaning of the Book of Songs by Fang is the inheritance and development for Fang's works.This paper adopts the method of comparison to analyze Yao's and Fang's individual works. I mainly concentrates on comparing the two authors'attitudes and methods of textual and literature research on the Book of Songs. In addition, this paper analyzes some characteristics of the two books and probes the two authors'intention to write under the background of their times. It is helpful for people to understand Yao and Fang's value on study to differentiate and analyze the relationship of inheritance and development between Poetry General Theory and Original Meaning of the Book of Songs.
