Environmental Ethics Perspective Of Ecological City Construction

From 2000 years ago Plato's "ideal country" concept, to the 2010 Shanghai WorldExpo theme "Better City, Better Life", people cherish the good will of having a perfect city.With human social and economic development, human beings have entered an era ofurbanization. However, accompanied by fast progress of urbanization, many urbanproblems have emerged such as traffic jam, high population, environmental pollution, etc.These problems can be a serious threat to human sustainable development strategy. Humansociety has been putting great effort to solve these problems. In the year of 1971,UNESCO presented the concept of "ecological city". In the process of eco-cityconstruction, not only faced with environmental problems, but also the moral issues, so theconstruction of environmental ethics is also very necessary.This article is mainly focusing on the process of employing the concept ofenvironmental ethics to construct the ecological city. It points at the environmentalpollution problems appeared in the construction of ecological city and the ethical dilemma,based on environmental ethics and the reference of relevant literature on the eco-city so asto derive a way of constructing eco-city from the point of environmental ethics view. Thereare four parts to explain the concept of ecological urban idea based on environmentalethics:Firstly, ethical dualism between economic development and environmental issues isused to analyze the idea of eco-city along with its internal content. Second, it uses theconcept of ecological city and the ethical foundation of ethical value. Thirdly, it is in theprocess of urban practice of ecological ethics of ecological ethic principle and generalecological city ecological principles to the peculiar are regulated, finally it discuss how toconstruct ecological ethics countermeasures in the construction of ecological city.
