Study Of "Adverb+Noun" Structure From The Perspective Of The Theory Of Linguistic Decategorization

The usage of adverbs modifying nouns has a long history and predecessors have already made various interpretations. Based on the previous studies, by means of statistics, description and interpretation, we try to explain the "adverb+noun" structure from the perspective of linguistic decategorization.The decategorization theory is the indespensable part of the categorization theory. It has a strong ability to explain the unconventional language phenomenon. This paper ueses decategorization theory to analyze "adverb+noun" structure from the angle of nouns and adverbs respectively. The noun's decategorization is the process of certain members of noun gradually losing category features in certain conditions. These nouns are in an unstable state before they enter into new category. These nouns lost some typical characteristics of the original category and obtained some of the characteristics of the new category. We found that the tendcy of nouns decategorizing to verbs and adjectives is the main reason of the formation of the "adverb+noun" structure.In addition, most of adverbs are grammaticalized from notional word. Semantically, the adjective and nouns meaning of adverbs, led to the formation of this structure. To some extent, this is the phenomenon of the language reversion. Then we gathered statistics of the adverbs entering the "adverbs+noun" structure. We tried to find the reasons for the formation of the "adverb+noun" structure synchronically and diachronically.This article can be divided into seven chapters. The preface part, we clarified the object of study, present situation of "adverb+noun" structure study, the basis and value of this study, and explain the research methods. The first chapter is the theoretical foundation, focuses on the "the linguistic decategorization", its characteristics, working mechanism, continuum features, etc. Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 are the main body of this thesis. We discussed the types of nouns and abvers which enter into "adverb+noun" structure. Then we gathered statistics of the adverbs entering the "adverbs+noun" structure. Though the statistics, we proof that "adverb+noun" structure is not an individual phenomenon, but a common phenomenon and it is becoming more and more popular. Chapter 6 is conclusion:We believe that, "adverb+noun" structure is acceptable. This language phenomenon is worth paying attention. Rational analysis and interpretation of this structure have a very important theoretical and practical significance.
