A Study On Xu Chi's Reportage Of Science And Technology

Xu Chi is a poet and reportage writer of crossing modern and contemporary stages. The work"at the foot of mountain Qilian"written by Xu Chi in 1960s laid the trend and development of reportage and preliminarily established his position in reportage history. By the end of 1970s, the publication of"Bach's Guess"written by Xu Chi, which caused a sensation throughout the country and made distinctive significance in the development of reportage. Xu Chi made an everlasting contribution to establish the style of reportage.Xu Chi basically started to write the reportage of science and technology from the work"at the foot of mountain Qilian". This thesis, avoiding repetition on the basis of predecessors'research, makes a complete study of Xu Chi's works of science and technology published after 1960s. First, seeing through the case of Xu Chi, this article discusses the cultural differences between the humanistic and scientific intellectuals which lead humanity and science to developing in their own ways, and this will be detrimental to the development and progress of society. However, Xu Chi undertook a mission and responsibility of litterateur and scientist in no fear of difficulties and exploring high-tech fields bravely, wrote an epic of reportage, roaming in natural and scientific field with literature and singing scientific hymns. In fact, Xu Chi has not got great achievement in all of the reportage of science and technology. In analysis of the success in the works of his early stage, meantime, this thesis also analyses the reasons of failures in his later period. The main reasons that his failure in the writing in the later period are the lack of the main body critique, the misunderstanding between the culture of humanity and science, the utilitarianism of literature under the Scientific Reason. In addition, this thesis also roughly explores how to realize the convergence of literature and science to spread technology much better. Finally, through analyzing Xu Chi's works,this paper discusses the art characteristics of his works in the authenticity,literariness and the ideology of narrative voice .
