The Sunny Snow is newly produced by the Opera Troupe of the General Political Department of PLA, which is composed by Zhang Qianyi. The opera is set in the event of the Peaceful Liberation of Tibet in 1950. It narrates the moving stories of those female soldiers who overcame difficulties even sacrificed their lives for their dreams and believes, for the foundation of a new China.This article analyses on the characteristics of the musical composing, vocal music performance and the artistic value of the opera. The composition of the music texture is based on the permeation of thematic tone, trying to keep a balance among different factors. Breaking through the traditional idea of vocal music singing and pursuing innovation, the composers put emphasis on the three singing methods: Bel canto, National and Popular, which embodies the variety of the singing form, style and tone color of the vocal music singing in this opera. The inheritance and the innovation of The Sunny Snow provide the opera production in China with a reference in the future, and bring with us a new view for the development of opera production.
