Creativity is affected by individual characteristics and environmental factors, and in different cultural background, the effect is different. For the theme "how is person-environment fit impact on creativity?", we don't have much localization research, and some foreign empirical researches have several limitations, such as the theoretical framework isn't comprehensive enough; the samples were the university students from some single department, and so on. So studying this theme in the context of Chinese culture and researching the different impacts on creativity by different structures of the person-environment fit are important, not only can enrich the researches at home and abroad, but also meaningful for cross-cultural exploration in this area. And this study also has important practical significance.This study was about researching the relationship between person-environment fit and creativity of employee, the purpose of this study were as follows:(1)To modify the scale of creativity and the scale of the person-environment fit for suiting the localization, and discuss the structure of these scales;(2)To explore the possible relationship between the person-environment fit and creativity;(3)To explore the different effects of the three structures of the person-environment fit on the individual creativity and six aspects of it.The data for the study were collected from 1,081 persons, they were IT industry's employees worked more than six months in some provinces and cities such as Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai and Guangdong, which completed the revised scale of creativity and the scale of the person-environment fit. The applied analysis methods were Descriptive Statistics, Pearson Product-moment Correlation, t-test, Canonical Correlation and Stepwise Multiple Regression.The finding and conclusion of this study were as follows:(1)The revised scale of creativity has 31 items, with the 5-point Likert scale, including six subscales, left and right brain orientation, values, attitude, interests, personality factors, and problem solving style. Its internal consistency was 0.898, the range of internal consistency of subscales were 0.533~0.762. The revised scale of the person-environment fit has 9 items, with the 5-point Likert scale, including three subscales, Supplementary fit, Supplies-Needs fit, Demands-Abilities fit. Its internal consistency was 0.719, the range of internal consistency of subscales were 0.646~0.792.(2)The results showed:Gender differences were not existed on creativity of employees, but on partial subscales of creativity. The reason may be the awareness of gender roles. No gender differences were existed on the scale of the person-environment fit and its subscales. Analyzed the relationship between person-environment fit and creativity of employee, we can find there was correlation existed between the person-environment fit and creativity of employees, and the canonical correlation existed between them. Every subscale of the person-environment fit could predict the creativity of employees, and different subscale showed different effect on creativity of employees, which the influence of supplementary fit was the most significant.Explore how the interaction between person and environment impact on individual creativity, which can let organizations know how to create a suitable working environment, then help the employees could show the greatest creativity. It not only benefits the organization's development, but also allows employees can demonstrate the value of their own better, which will lead to a win-win situation.
