Modal verbs not only play an unique value in the Chinese grammar and vocabulary system but also as a class of words which appear to have lots of errors in the foreign students'study. The error analysis of modal verbs based on different countries is thus Necessary. This paper reviews previous research results, based on the questionnaire survey to Chinese learners whose mother tongue are English, on Chinese modal verbs learning, analyses the errors on the modal verbs use-case, combining with the contrast of modal verbs in English and Chinese, and puts forward some effective teaching recommendations of modal verbs for Chinese learners whose mother tongue are English.
