With the great development of the economy and the further deepening of China's reform and opening up the society imposes great demand on the compound talents which brings new opportunities and challenges to the translation teaching and research. As China's exchange and cooperation with other countries are steadily furthered, it is essential for companies and enterprises to be able to recruit staff who can not only read technical materials and documents in English and translate them into Chinese, but who are also capable of communicating with foreigners in the workplace. Therefore, it is the urgent need to develop and improve students'translation ability. In fact, translation teaching is defective and still in the exploratory stage. Also there are such problems existing among teachers and students in using the web to enhance translation teaching and learning as how do teachers and students make use of the web effectively and how do teachers motivate students'learning interest through the web. This thesis aims to analyze network-based translation teaching from the perspective of the constructivist theory. By comparison with traditional translation teaching, the paper provides a feasible translation teaching model tentatively in order to promote the development of translation teaching. According to constructivism, learners'subjective initiative is emphasized. It believes that the best way to learn is by having students construct their own knowledge instead of having someone construct it for them. Learning is an active process of creating meaning from different experiences. In other words, students will learn best by trying to make sense of something on their own with teachers'guidance. Therefore some effective and practical teaching models are needed to give instruction in translation teaching. This paper applies constructivist theory to the research of translation teaching based on the urgent need for professionals. The significance of this paper is that it can offer one network-based translation teaching model which can direct translation teaching in college through the creative application of the theory and the deep analysis of the research. This thesis focuses on network-based translation teaching models and methods in colleges. The author makes use of the constructivist theory to analyze and discuss the mutual relationships between teachers and students and students themselves in the process of translation teaching. The quantitative and qualitative research methods are used for the present research. On the one hand, the author collects a large number of data through questionnaires and interviews. On the other hand, the author makes the best of case study researches based on the broad and extensive learning of the works on the constructivist theory.By means of the research and analysis directed by the constructivist theory, this paper provides one translation teaching model in colleges at last---network-based peer review and interactive model. The author expects that the study of this paper can provide a richer and more effective applicative teaching model for translation teaching in college, thereby improving the quality of translation teaching continuously.
