Thesis analyzes the research on the painting concept of Huang Binhong mainly through illustrating"Five kinds with the writing brush method and seven kinds use the ink technique"theory of Huang Binhong who concludes"Five kinds with the writing brush method and seven kinds use the ink technique"theory by combing and summarizing the drawing experience of others."Five kinds with the writing brush method"means Even, remains, round, heavy and changes, and"seven kinds use the ink technique"refers to"the dark ink, the pale ink, the style of ink and wash painting using varying thicknesses of Chinese ink for contrasting effects, the accumulated ink, splash ink, the highly concentrated almost waterless ink, and sleep the ink."His unique style of ink painting is attributable to his rich drawing experience, and his drawing concept. Among the modern painters, he is mostly skilled in the understanding of the essence of drawing and usage of ink. He develops the ink language and extends the expressive power of Chinese painting on the basis of the traditional drawing. Of Chinese painters in the twentieth century, he pays most attention to the status and role of ink. He said:"the essence of painting lies in usage of ink". Only with pen as the bone and ink as flesh can a splendid painting was made. As for the drawing, he advocated one origins of writing and paintings, that is,"painting is like writing, and the usage of ink and painting follows the writing in Chinese", and"writing has much in common with painting". Obviously Huang Binhong points out that painting is developed from drawing, and introduces the insights"draw calligraphy into painting"and"draw painting into calligraphy". He holds that drawing is characterized with several changes, which is due to his research on painting and his painting experience.This thesis included three chapters. The first chapter illustrates"Five kinds with the writing brush method and seven kinds use the ink technique"theory and analyzes the origin and development of the drawing and ink usage. The second chapter introduces his painting concept focusing on the"Five kinds with the writing brush method and seven kinds use the ink technique"theory, which develops from interaction between"Five kinds with the writing brush method and seven kinds use the ink technique"theory and his painting practice and interaction between"Five kinds with the writing brush method and seven kinds use the ink technique"theory and his painting concept. The chapter three summarizes the influence of his painting practice on others, triggering a reflection about the trend of the development of Chinese painting.In short, this thesis learns about"Five kinds with the writing brush method and seven kinds use the ink technique"theory, analyzes his painting concept, and enriches his painting thoughts, while analyzing the real paintings. He has established an aesthetic standard for Chinese ink painting in practice and theory."Five kinds with the writing brush method and seven kinds use the ink technique"theory and painting concept he created is academically in accordance with the painting practice, and provides a kind of painting regulation which defends the essence of art and life culturally. In this way, not only is the essence of traditional Chinese culture promoted, but also the meaning of ink painting at modern times and the practice value of Chinese painting in future are revealed.
