Since 1970s, English has been a compulsory course in Chinese education plans. The related teaching methodologies have been studying in recent 50 years, from Grammar-Translation Method to Communicative Approach; from Teacher-oriented class to Student-oriented class, the main aim is to help student be able to use it as a tool to study and explore the world. Nowadays, many ESL or EFL experts find that the rather importance of reading in Chinese English college class. This thesis is going to research how to improve college students' reading comprehension in perspective of vocabulary, reading strategies and reading motivation by a series of teacher action research.35 volunteers in Shaanxi Normal University from different majors are involved in this two-month teacher action research, whose English level are around CET-4. Before the research, exams about their English levels are taken by language tests about vocabulary, reading comprehension around CET-6 level, while questioners and interviews are taken for their reading motivation. For each aspect, there are three classroom activities. Certain data from the pre-research and the after-research is collected to be compared with. By comparing and analyzing the two groups of data, the improvement by.using such teaching skills is presented.After two-month teacher action research on reading based on CBI approach for Chinese college students,30 students take part in the final exams. All of them get certain different progress in vocabulary calculation and reading comprehension. Their vocabulary amount and reading comprehension have gotten to CET-6 level; while they also have been improved their motivation of reading by certain class activities which can be proved by the comparison between two data from the questioners and interviews.
