The basic elements in Chinese Landscape Painting are trees, rocks, clouds, water, pavilions, boats and characters, etc. These elements are essential to the construction of imagery, especially the painting techniques of clouds and water.Lines used in Figure Painting are still the method of Landscape Painting in its first foundation. The method of drawing the outline is called outlining, including sketching and filling. This method is mainly used in fine landscapes (viridescence, vermillion and miniature painting). After Chinese landscape ink-painting came into existence, dying, emptying and outling-and-dying are added to the techniques of painting clouds. The techniques of painting clouds are closely related to the proportion of time and space in the construction of imagery. In spatial articulation, the painting of clouds will enhance the space sense and in time, though not as directly as that in space, they are all supporting elements of the representation of weather and time. it will subtly handle the mountains shapes.Contemporary painters as Lu Yanshao, Chen Ping and Chen Guoyong have their own unique techniques in landscape painting. Lu Yanshao's ink-block cloud, Chen Ping's sun-like cloud and Chen Guoyong's texturing cloud deserve to be followed and thought over by us.
