The United States is a cultural melting pot, in addition to the dominant Christian culture, there are many non-mainstream culture including Islam, which is a major force and developed rapidly in the United States. Although Islam has growed and developed rapidly in the United States since World War II, the development of Islam in the United States is a long and difficult process. Someone has been suggested the history of Islam in the United States can be traced back to the period of geographical discovery, as the earliest Muslim immigrants reached the United States together with Christopher Columbus. With the number of Muslims was gradually increased, American Muslims became a large scale in the late 19th century; they establish their Islam organizations in the early 20th century. it was the time that From the early 20th century to the end of World War II for Islam organizations to emerge and develop, and it is also the time the article focuses on.American Muslims experienced economic difficulties and cultural differences and barriers, try their's best to restructure the culture of Islamic organizations and adapt to the multicultural background of the United States in order to achieve the goal of integration with the mainstream culture. The paper analyzes the history of American Muslim immigrants and the requirements changes to understand the causes of the development of Islamic organizations from the early 20th century to the end of World War II; Explore the growth and development process of Islamic organizations, analyze the views what they proposed in order to maintain their's national characteristics and adjust to American multi-culture, that can enrich our cognition of American Islam. Analyze the idea of American Islam including economic independence, equal political rights and unique customs which have significant impacts on the U.S. political, economic and cultural aspects, and the relationship between Islam and Christianity in the United States, that can help us to deeply understand the significance of Islam in the United States.
