The history of American Eastern orthodox, beginning with eight Russian missionaries established first Eastern orthodox in Alaska's Kodiak. After more than two centuries development, until late 20th century, there had been 22 competent parishes in the United States, the number of believers exceeded two million people, play an important role in society, which is considered to be the fourth largest religion in the United States. The most serious problem, Eastern orthodox faced, when it began entering to American is that believers joined their own national church because different blood and different countries where they came from. These national churches often belonged to their own countries'churches, used their own languages in the rituals and religious activities, and had little communication. So the Eastern orthodox of America had been divided. Because after the Second World War, eastern Europe political situation changed and gradually assimilation of immigration, on the late 20th century development of America's Eastern orthodox shows new features, that is to establish a serious of fan-orthodox organization. However, the barriers such as language and old world relationship which makes the Eastern orthodox of America still be in a dilemma between unity and split.This paper intended to analyze from three aspects. First, introduced the development of America's Eastern orthodox which before the Second World War; Second, analyzed the development features of America'Eastern orthodox which is different national churches became localization, thought of unity had being deeply rooted among the people, as orthodox church in America becoming autonomy, the unity of orthodox church reached a new high. But because diverge of native churches and language obstacle such reasons, America's Eastern orthodox did not complete reunification.Third, analyzed the reasons which made the characteristic of America's Eastern orthodox on the late half of the 20th century .This article mainly discussed from two aspects, the immigration's differences and influence of American religious development diversified trend.
