The art plays an important role in human civilization. A good work of art not only gives people the joy of beauty and the strength to make progress, but also helps people to uncover the mystery of nature, to get the true meaning of life. Most works of art need to be achieved by tools or carriers, such as painting, sculpture, music and drama. Although language arts (such as poetry) can be generated and transmitted by people themselves and the natural media in the beginning, their development still depends on the invention of writing and writing techniques.In the 1980s, a subversive revolution based on computer and network virtualization technology occurred in the world of art. This revolution is marked by the rise of virtual art, and make the modern art turn into the contemporary art. Today, we sit before a computer screen, not only can enjoy and get the traditional art, but also can directly take part in the creation process of art. In fact, in the virtual world, not only the traditional function of art (such as intuition, expression and symbolism, etc.) can be well achieved, but also, more importantly, art is no longer only a part of the pure consumption system, it became a process that including storage, processing and transmission art information with the aesthetic value. In this new form of art. the works presented were very different form the traditional work of art in many ways, and the relationship between art and technology have undergone substantial changes.At present, what is a virtual art is not explicitly defined and recognized. From the genetic point of view, virtual art refers to the works which use computer technology in the virtual world to create, the way they exist is only in the virtual world.Basically, the main objective of the virtual art is realizing the dynamic conversation and exchanging information in the three parts, artists, audiences and software (especially virtual software agent), and the virtual world made by the computer and the network provides an ideal place. In the process of achieving this goal, the status and role of the audience have changed, from an ordinary part into the main part of the interaction, also the artists can be creators or audience: Meanwhile, the computer software can take part in the process of art creation too. by man or just by self-generation, which led to collectivization and virtualization of the creation process. Therefore, the virtual art not only changed the roles of artists and audiences, the final works, but also changed the relationship between human intelligence and artificial intelligence, and changed the relationship between virtual and reality. Traditional arts often involved some parts or reflected the reality, and the works of virtual art themselves are components of a'reality'(virtual reality). In this case, the audience is no longer just a consumer of the completed art work, he can travel in the virtual world and discover things, join in the reconstruction and re-creation of this work.In short, virtual art not only changed the way people's creation and appreciation of the arts, but also became a new way to know and join in the world by the close integration of science and technology. In the art part of the virtual world, people can enjoy the beauty of the real world. what's more, people can fully develop their imagination, to create, travel and join in the variety possibilities of the world, which greatly expanded the scope of human aesthetic. Moreover, the virtual art will undoubtedly help human to improve cognitive abilities, and to better establish the status in the nature.
