The continuous innovation of information technology, not only brings new changes to people's lifestyle, meanwhile also accelerated the pace of life and the speed of information received unknowingly. In this background, the pursuit of efficiency life cannot be satisfied by the traditional pattern of display in the city museums. It could be a serious challenge for the museum workers. Many transition modes with strategic features were placed in front of the museum display designers, and creating a dramatic visiting experience of the museum became one of the more innovative ways.Citing the relevant theory and practices of drama art, this thesis studied the design of display spaces in urban museum in a brand new perspective. First, get rid of the traditional guiding ideology of display design which defined the exhibits as the dominant. Take audiences, exhibits and space relative to each other efficiently. The thesis tried to take the behavior, psychological feelings and emotional experiences of audiences as a starting point, exploring a method of display space designing with the dramatic features.The entire thesis has been classified into three different parts:In the first and second chapters, the thesis clearly analyzed and summarized the conceptions of display space and drama. On the one hand, the thesis analyzed the essence of the display space in the point of communication and summarized its constituent elements, as exhibits, audience and place. On the other hand, it explored the characteristics and contents of drama art deeply. Meanwhile, on this basis explored the essential way converting the drama presentation into visualization.In the third chapter, the possibility of combining the display spaces with drama presentation has been discussed. Through a plenty number of field researches, the situation of domestic display spaces has been summed up. According to the current deficiencies, the necessity of combining the display spaces with drama presentation has been investigated and the practical approaches have been derived.Based on the theoretical groundwork and results, taking the display spaces in historical theme as the example, the designing method of display spaces has been mainly discussed in the forth chapter. According to the steps of display space designing, the method has been analyzed deeply from five aspects, such as theme determination and pre-plan, story framework and exhibition layout, dramatic plot and space form, role shaping and displaying, experience composition and media technology.
