To Give "the Second Sex" Gender Consciousness

Western feminist literary criticism was introduced into China in 1980s. After the neglecting, rejection, fierce contention and argument on it, the theory has been widely accepted and put in the practice of criticism on Chinese feminist literature, resulting in significant impact and improvement on Chinese literature study. Feminist criticism provides us a novel theoretical perspective and critical method. After three decades of development, Chinese feminist literary criticism has made remarkable achievements in contemporary literary critics, and has been the crucial part in current literary criticism research filed. Chinese feminist literary criticism promotes the consciousness of female writers, which is reflected in the strong feminism in the current female literary works. In this paper, we reviewed and analyzed the spread and development of the feminist in China. We also evaluated its achievements, the limitations and problem, which is helpful to move Chinese feminist literary criticism and female literature forward.This thesis is consisted of four chapters. The first chapter is about the definition of feminism, feminists and the related concepts. The second chapter is to describe the spread and development process of the feminist literary criticism in China. The third section summarizes and analyzes the reality and achievements of Chinese feminist literary criticism. The last chapter is to discuss the problem and solutions and prospective future during localization procession of the feminist literary criticism in China.
