Mistranslation is always being criticized thoroughly in the long term. Traditionally, translation is supposed to abide by the principle of faithfulness and equivalence and represent the essence of the original as far as possible. Actually, in the practical translation, translators make intentional mistranslation more or less.Based on the theory of post colonialism, this thesis aims to explore and analyze intentional mistranslation. Due to the existence of power differentials, the ex-colonized countries attempt to take advantage of intentional mistranslation to shake off the imitation of the colonizers and dig the specialties and difference in order to remold their identity. Intentional mistranslation is a twist of the original in order to meet the need of the domestic's culture. It changes the literary character, style or expression in a large scale. Through the studies of theory of post colonialism translation and practical cases of intentional mistranslation, things are observed that intentional mistranslation is not only an efficient strategy of translation in post colonialism, but also plays much significance: more consideration for readers, better improvement on practice, wide popularity of"afterlife", good harvest of economy and sound understanding in cultures. We need to commit that intentional mistranslation in postcolonial translation must be on the basis of and in accordance with objectivity of knowledge, which is the essential distinction between intentional mistranslation and non-translation.
