The Chinese people have been badly scathed since the Wenchuan earthquake, which occurred at 14:28:04 on May 12, 2008. History will always remember the pain brought to her. This devastating earthquake provids us with so many reflecting angles and contents. But the author deems that only reflecting the calamity brought by the Wenchuan earthquake and the brilliance of people's humanity when facing disaster from the esthetics angle, can we truly find out the significance of disaster, surmounting death and pursuing life. So does it inspire us to focus on living and totally make us stand up and grow up.This thesis is divided into three parts to discuss this issue. The first part (Introduction) will summarize the happening of Wenchuan earthquake and some general situation after its occurrence. The second part (The first&two chapters ) is going to analyze the components of disaster esthetics from three angles: contingency and necessity, life and death, glory and disgrace. It is also going to analyze the configuration of disaster esthetics from two aspects: tragedy and grandness. The main purpose is to let the mankind realize our current crisis of survival, evoke the most primitive awe and fear of nature, awaken human's motivation of exploring unknown world and survival, surpass disaster and death, activate and find out the significance of life. The third part (The third chapter) will mainly focus on post-disaster aesthetic reflection, aesthetic spirit and aesthetic significance of disaster, including disaster awareness and life vitality.Although the thesis studies on Wenchuan earthquake, in fact it seeks to go far beyond the disaster, it is to reflect we people's common fate as human beings, to concentrate the harmonious development between mankind and nature, people and people, man and society.
