| Francisco Varela's enactive cognition is one of the most important representations of the second generation of cognitive science. We explain the concept and the characters of enactive cognition. Enactive cognition not only emphasizes on the reflexivity of the subject and the object, but also focuses on the context of the coupling of the individual, the mind and the world together, with the investigations of biology, neuroscience, phenomenology, especially the historical formation and the rheological. In the context of the human, mind and the world together, these elements interact with each other, and adapt to each other, and coexist. Cognition is the result of Cognitive structural coupling between people and the environment, and the result of optimal adaption to each other, and the result of the emergence.Based on enactive cognition's concept and its characters, we analyze systematically the origins of enactive cognition. There are mainly three as the following:the practice of biology found the base of context and mechanism of enactive cognition, and phenomenology provides the foundation philosophy of science, and Buddhism has given the initial state and rheological mechanisms of enactive cognition. The three all emphasize on the historical enactive emergence, while there are close relationship between the epiphany in Indian Buddhism and the neural emergence of biology.Based the concept of enactive cognition and exploring its origin, we study its important significance of researching this thought. It integrates the philosophical meaning of science, and transcends the edge of Buddhism and the practice of biology, and eventually encloses the coupling mechanism of human cognition, which has very important theoretical significance and methodology significance on the study of the nature and the mechanism of human mind. |
